Ouch! It almost hurts to look.

This year was kind of weird as we just switched to bikes from quads and I unfairly didn't count the sell of the quads to offset the bikes. Make sense? So I pumped up the numbers a bit. We went on three major rides and try to go riding at least twice a month. While I just spent another $300 on the recently aquired KDX, I think I'm about done.... but who knows. It costs money to play with these toys, but I count it up as family time. :boss:

Last 12 months, probably less than $500. But I didn't ride near as much as I wanted. This year, with race fees and everything, that number is definitely going up. And I might be able to sneak in a new bike later in the year. Orange is calling my name, I'm just ignoring it right now.

Its almost been a year since I last posted in here, might as well update :)

Not counting liquids (gas, oil, etc.)

Helmet/goggles - $200
Trailtech computer - $57
Chest protector - $91
Moose Sahara pants - $90
Moose Sahara shirt - $30
Fixing a flat front tire - $20

Almost $500. Would probably be 2-3 times that if I raced.

Never thought of how much I spend on bikes

I just got a KDX so that puts me about half way up and then all the add-ons i have added it can add up to a lot. At a lot of races people show up with a bike that cost more than the truck they brought it in. When i was younger my dad and i had a bike that was worth more than the truck we brought it in.

I payed $900 for the bike (94 YZ250) the previous owner only had 3 rides on the top end and just put a JN front end on it. So I think I got a good deal.... So far all I've upgraded to was a FMF Fatty I got on e-bay for $120 and $16 for a couple new jets to match the pipe. I probable have about $200 into normal maintenance items filter oil, chain lube, carb cleaner, etc... So $1,236.00 isn't to bad for a bike that's running like a champ....

I made the mistake of keeping a spread sheet. In the first 12 months that I owned my bike I spent $3076.12, plus the bike, $4222.90 . Now, that total does include things like gas, oil, plugs, etc, but that only totalled up to about $500, mostly gas.

I had to buy a truck first in order to haul my bike around so that was 2000 and the bike was 2000 and the parts that I used to mod this sucker out was about 500 or more, plus gear around 300 or so. Plus Gas to ride per year around a couple of grand because of gas prices.

All in all, I spent about a billion dollars.

I spent well over 7500.00

Or I saved 10 grand on alcohol/drug treatment centers and mental therapy.

I prefer to look at the latter.

my family has spent $3600 on our bikes, my kx1251400, bros. kx85 $1200, bros. xr701000 and no, me and my brothers bikes are not pieces of junk, rick just sold them cheap so he could put a decent amount of money into his sons kx250f and they were in great condition when we bought them. my brother with the xr70 and i were given used helmets from a 38 y/o racer. my brother with the kx85 got his for $100 at performance honda/suzuki of pineville. then calculating expenses of gas, gloves, goggles, boots, jersey, pants, chest protectors, repairs, bike stand, and stickers, id say weve spent atleast 5k to play.

WOW!! Thats all i can say!

I bought 2 used bikes, KX250 and XR100...thats $2500 there. Then all the gear, parts, oils, lube, gas(bikes and vehicle) plus the expenses to travel and magazines brings my total near $4200.

Then add in my broken leg, and my total is way above the $7500 mark, plus the lost wages from work... :bang:

Now that I look at it, im not sure I want to ride anymore................. :nener: ......just kidding....this has been money well spent IMO... :ride:

p.s It has been 6 weeks since I broke my leg, 3 cast later I am now cast free, still on cruches but I have been cleared to start putting weight on my leg and I actually get to go back to work July 10th...light duty of course... :whoa:

Easy over 7500 per year. I am afraid to try and keep up with it. Myself and my 2 son's
run harescramble's and some GNCC. Between gas, motels and parts its alot.
I lucky my wife loves to go and watch.

At this rate we'll go into debt.

Let's see... I started riding less than a year ago and purchased a ttr125, at which time my husband purchased a wr450. Of course we both needed full gear as well. $$$.

Then... several friends/family started riding with us. :ride: :ride: :ride: :ride: :ride: A few already had bikes, however several (about 5 or 6 of them) were new riders requiring new bikes and gear. $$$$.

And... since we all trail ride in the desert/forest we needed new camping equipment. Does that count ?!? In our little group 2 new trucks were purchased to haul the new dirtbikes AND the 2 new camping trailers that were purchased. o.k...now we are talking....$$$$$$$$$.

I think I'll be voting in the spent way to much money catagory! Although it was well worth it.

OH..By the way.... We will be spending more money very shortly because I've already outgrown the 125 and I'll be buying another bike to replace it. Hopefully I can hang on to the next one for more than a year.

Easily over $5000 per year. Figure in the cost of owning our place and at least 1/2 the reason is for us to ride motorcycles...I ride and one kid rides now. The other have grown up and left.

Taxes=9,000 per year 9,000/2=4500 so I'm starting at $4500 bucks.
Fuel & repairs & gear for growing kid(was kids) is around $2500 bucks.

Fortunately my old VOR doesn't either use much fuel or seem to need repair. Haven't touched it other than to change oil and clean filters. Oh yea; tires / brakes/ Chain & Sprockets...Been a good ride.

I think It will morph a little. I want to ditch all the battery & lighting & e-start crap and swap my 2001 503 motor into the 2002 450 EN chassis.
