2004 $83,000 without incidentals, groceries, etc. Fortunately only $49300 out of pocket. :bang: To think it all started 4 years ago with a $700 dirtbike.

I have a new rig out of the deal, that was the $36k part, and I raised sponsorship for the 24 hour race, so that only cost $500 or so.

One new KTM 450 EXC $6500
Prep new KTM 450 EXC for 24 hour race while you have seven pieces of steel sticking out of your arm.
Work every night for a month and $700.

Letting 6 of your best buds trash same bike for 24 hours. Priceless.

Repair all the things that wear out, break off, leak etc. after 24 hours of being flogged. $850

Will we do it the same next year? NO WAY. We are going to do it better. 2 teams and twice the pit party, uhm I mean pit crew. :yeehaw:

in the summer at my cabin we go up friday morning and come back monday... its around 30-40 bucks in van gas, 20 bucks of bike gas,15 bucks for premix oil, 15 bucks or more in food for the weekend, it really depends on what i need or how much gas i burn or what i break ect. thats in one weekend. i usally go every to every other weekend all year round. so i guess a lot of cash is spent on my rides. but its a labor of love for the sport !

me personally i didnt spend over $250 the whole year. of what i can remember. umm my dad and i dont get out much maybe once every 3 months. but after i get a job (very soon, hoping to be in the next couple of weeks or so) i can start setting down some payments on a bike. i dont pay for the gas cuz we buy gas, then it gets used for all our machinery around our hobby farm. like quads, tractor and sometimes my truck thats not on the road. im hoping to do more riding this year. way more.

I have never paid more than a grand for a bike in my life but I am a northern tightwallet and am prone to bringing the price down a bit.

A grand being one thousand pounds which currently is about $1850 (ish).

Admittedly after paying a grand for my KX500 I paid about another grand to get it onto supermoto condition (wheels being the most expensive part of that).

Being away at school keeps me from riding. I think I bought a new sidecase in September which has not been put on yet :ugg:

I figured around 500-600 bucks... No new gear really (some new socks and a "last years" jersey I think) 35 bucks per ride at PAP and rode there 10-12 times or so, fuel lasted a while so didn't spend a whole lot on fluids, maybe 8-10 oil changes at 5 bucks a pop.. Oh yeah.. I did have about $600 bucks in medical bills paid for by health insurance...so i don't count that. :)

$2,000 for the bike and most of the gear. Spent another few hundred on helmet and goggles. Add money for gas and oil and I'm at about $2,500.

You need to justify this. Is it per bike or what? I've got 2. One cost me $3200 and the other is at $1800 (I have to fix it). So I guess I'm in the higher range also. :yikes:

well my expenses just shot up after buying a f-250 to haul my bike around with, plus a 01 blaster to mess around with, this sport is a blind curve of expenses but well worth it :ride: :yeehaw:

I've spent $20,000-$30,000, conservatively. 5 new bikes in the last 3 years, now a used 125. New gear, $100 a weekend in fuel, parts, and fees. It adds up real quick, i estimate i spend about $1000 at the local dealer and on motosport.com a month.

When I had my XR, the costs were relatively low. Now I'm at our track pretty much every weekend I'm home ($100 membership fee per year), new bike ($3800), gas for bike (I think I was around $150 to $200 for the four months I got to ride), miscellaneous parts (less than $200 for the season), gas for bike hauler to get to track (half hour drive each way, with the price of gas I don't even want to think of how much it was) and race entry fees ($60, only did one race all year :(). Next year will be even more because I'll be getting my own vehicle instead of using my parent's all the time.

But, every penny spent on riding is worth it. I look at it as it keeps my sanity and keeps me healthy (minus crash damage). Now, university on the other hand, that's expensive!

Never mind my expenses, I wonder how much Steve has invested? He just bought another 250, that makes 11 bikes (almost all late-model!).

I've kept track of EVERYTHING in a little spread sheet, gas, oil, tires, parts, etc. Since July 2004 I've spend a touch over $3900 on the sport of dirt biking, not including the bike. Makes me scared to keep track of the Jeep parts.......

Haven't bought new bikes in a while. Between my son and I, with fuel, travel, bike maintainance, and some gear......$2,000? Fall, break bones, miss work?.......$10,000-$12,000. This thread is too realistic........I choose to turn and run.

Let's see... Purchased two new Kawasaki's and they were both stolen the day after purchase, no insurance and out the $5400 I spent. Two weeks later went and replaced both bikes so within the last month I am up to $10,800 not including gear that I have also bought. Hell of a price just to get back into the sport.

I'm right at $4K, but I'm almost out of the free Maxxim 2 stroke oil that was given to me when I bought my bike, so now my cost will be going up. I geuss that isn't bad since I have an 05' KX250 and full gear.
