hi...i have a 1989 suzuki rmx250. the stock tire size is a 110/100-18. will a 120/100-18 tire hit the swingarm and adversely affect the bike? how about a 110/90-18? will less sidewall affect how it handles?

thanks

Maybe. It's 10mm wider overall (5mm per side)

Nope. Same width as stock, but with 10% less sidewall

Potentially. Less tire to flex when crossing logs or sharp edges in the trail. Slightly more prone to pinch flats. Would you feel the difference? I probably wouldn't.

Another thing to consider: Different mfr's tire sizes tend to vary a bit. I think Michelin used to be WAY small for their indicated size, but I believe they changed that a couple years ago and are now consistant with other tire makers. Overall the difference is minimal, but if you happen to choose a brand that's a bit big, and get a wider tire than stock, it may interfere with the swingarm or chain. There's no real way to determine this ahead of time as far an I know...

Why a different size? Good price? Looking to change something?
