TM250 year model ???

Does anyone here know how to determine the year model on a TM 250? I am looking at one that is priced at around $2500 and is advertised as a 2001 model. The price is really excellent for South Africa but I would like to check the year model somehow.

HI! If the silencer is round, and has a round, cup shaped end cap, it is a 2000 or newer. The '99 had a old style tip on the silencer. The 2000-2003 bikes come with grey frames, 98-99/'04-05's are black coated.From '02 the bikes come with oversized handlebars. The 99 models has a rear fender like a '97 KX. From 2000 they look like the new'er KX fenders.
Hope this helps, can't really come up with any more I think, maybe the year is part of the frame No. also!, but it's really hard to tell if it's a 00 or a 01 model! they a alike in almost every way. I've owned 5 Tm's '96-03 models. 125s and 250s.

what oil do you run in the transmission? ATF or 75wt? DOes it matter? Frequency of changes? Amounts? I just bought a super clean 2001 250mx. Great! I am in love (dont let my Maico hear that!)

I use ATF, but it really doesn't matter that muich.
Change often because there's only 0.5 ltre of oil in that engine.
