So, if I buy a chest protector that does'nt match my jersey and pants will I be in violation with the fashion police?
I really like the Fox Airframe but all my other stuff is Moose. I don't want to make a fashion blunder. ;)

Of course not, you would match better than most people. Most people aren't pro and don't have perfectly matching gear. I probably see more mismatched gear than matching. Of course there are people like me who think they look silly wearing mismatched gear, but then again, you are still riding around in bright colored tights anyway you look at it.

I never match ... Between MX and golf gear it is the only chance I get to pimp.  I must say the shock value is greater on the golf course. :scream:

Something wrong with matching gear? :p Actually, my jersey is one shade of yellow and my pants are another shade... so I guess I don't match. Dagnabbit! I wanted to be a poser!!!! :(

Once my gear is covered with blood it all pretty much looks the same, so I guess I kinda match.

I always try to chose a stylish tee-shirt to go with my shorts. I try not to pick a shirt that has a color scheme that may tend to clash with my braces. But sometimes, when I get that spunky feeling, I will throw caution to the wind and wear whatever I happen to grab.

Ever see a clean guy at the track....all gear new and matching, boots new and without a scratch, helmet shiney clean...he's got "wad up" written all over him, try to steer clear. LOL....:)

Rich, the only problem with your theory is that if you're bleeding more briskly at various parts of the body, the shade of red is different depending on state of blood oxygenation, source (arterial or venous) and degree of clotting. Carotid lacerations leave a nice pinkish/bright red appearance, while slow peripheral venous bleeds are a bit more purplish, solid and tend to layer and cake differently. So technically, you don't REALLY match in any one point in time.

BTW, I could have sworn one of the riders in either Dirtrider or Dirtbike---I believe the guy on the KX125?--was wearing thor pants and another brand of shirt, or something like that. One thing is sure: it couldn't have been MXA. :thumb:

In answer to the serious part of your question, in MY opinion jersey, pants and gloves should match; peripherals like helmet, boots and chest protector don't need to. I confess to owning more than 5 sets of gear . . .

MY gear isn't the same brand but the general color scheme matches navy blue/black/white/grey. My fox pilot helmet is mainly blue/white/grey got the fox navy air frame. Blue baggy shift pants with grey and some yellow! They are soon to be replaced by the new no fear shorts pants in a grey scheme. My white/black tech 8's, I have 3 jerseys either blue/black/grey/orange main colors. thor Gloves black/grey soon fox navy/black/orange. My warp stars are yellow with a yellow lense and I got a bright orange fox sticker on my helmet. Now if I really want to look like a goon I can dig out my really old gear and wear my ugly green/black/grey swirled thor helmet. My old hallman chest protector that has that vented plastic pieces (I got it back in 84!!) and its old yamaha yellow/back. These cooper mx pants (yes the hockey gear maker) that are like suzuki yellow and blue (I got these in 85!) and my honda red gaerne boots (from 82!) my blue JT googles and the flannel of my choice!

I wear a yellow helmet with some red/black stripes, a sleeveless dirty FOX shirt and a pair of Seth Enslow Shift pants. Oh yeah, black THOR boots/yellow gloves.

I like to think Gomer and I set a high standard that the young up and coming posers can aspire to  If a sweatshirt was cool enough for Steve McQueen in On Any Sunday, then it sure as hell is "cool" enough for me :thumb:

You see, it's like this: "It is better to look good, than to feel good. And I look marvelous." Actually, having matching gear and a great looking bike is about the best thing I got going for me as far as this riding thing goes. I sure as hell ain't fast enough to dress all mismatched!
