Here's a link connecting the issue of loud exhaust pipes to the medical loss of your hearing:

http://www.retain-it.com/earplugs.htm

It has a table of dB levels vs allowed exposure times per day.

Your 96 dB bike will easily make 110 dB on the gas and you're allowed 30 minutes at 110 dB based on trying to avoid losing your hearing. Some helmets, but usually street helmets and not mx helmets, block a good portion of the noise, but in general a rider gets a good dose during a session.

I'm not endorsing their plugs, but it's worth considering a quieter pipe and/or wearing at least the cheap foam earplugs. Being a tough guy eventually just makes you deaf.

I never realized how loud my bike was until I started it without my helmet on :scream: Gotta get a Quiet Core one of these days.
What??
