Kelly Smith podiums with a 6-5! Good for him. Kind of an empty podium when you get 6-5 moto scores but very cool!

Tortelli is a Class act.

Why's that? Because he tried? Showed up? Rode? I personally think he can do better. Maybe...just like Byrne..he did it because he had to.

Pssst... he got 3rd, thats not bad. He beat maybe the most talented(according to this board) rider Kdub. No bad for his second race back, if you ask me.

...not bad for a big guy on a two stroke against a bunch of diesel pigs either.

Nope, because a week ago, he showed up and raced at the club where i ride. After the racing had finished, he went to see the very nice people that run our club and thanked them for putting on a great days racing.

I think a podium on his second race after being away from pro racing for nearly 2 years is pretty cool too.

You might want to check back a few weeks ago when cobra was racing with us and spent the time watering the track- he is a class act too.

Where were you today? I was looking for ya down at Lakewood.

I haven't raced since the May 2nd Berthoud; money is tight. This season has been pretty depressing. I may race two or three more times this season and hope for the best next year.

Did you race?

Nahhh Tortelli is all class...two years out with a bad knee and he comes back and shows that speed on a horsepower track with a two stroke. He can only get better.....

No, I'm in the same boat with the money. I'm really trying to race the 4stroke national but it's going to be tight. The track was good and all of my friends rode well and olny one got hurt, it was good time all the way around.

Looks like Ferry's wrist injury is still nagging him, or he is dropping the ball... must be the wrist issue because he hasnt been riding like usual it seems.

I think I'll do the four-stroke nationals and the year-end championships and thats it. I was hoping this season would be my breakthrough year, but bad luck has kept me in the back when I did race. We just got our horse trailer fixed, it's big and green and a bit of a rustbucket but we will be pitting out of it at the races from now on. Swing by if you see us, we will grill some burgers!

Firstly, I'd like to say I agree that he's a class act. Or at least that he doesn't behave like a lot of the other jerkies out there. I'd like to see him get warmed up, though--put a doin' to Reed and pressure Carmichael. Because he's that good.

However, I'm not sure I believe this 2 vs 4 track thing anymore. We're now going to be seeing the quality, power and power:wt ratios of 2's increasing exponentially now that there's a realistic goal (other than another similarly-powered 2 stroke). ie, what was predicted as a time of development deterioration for 2 strokes will in fact turn into the greatest magnitude of 2 stroke development for decades, if not ever (IMO). But Tortelli is riding what Suzuki's been working awfully hard on for years, and it's a damn good bike. I'm sure it's churning out equivalent numbers. It's a beautiful motor made perfect with a fluid Tortelli on board.

...keeping in mind that the nearest bike to a wheezing kx125 was 40 seconds back. Both motos. Hey, I thought this was a nontechnical 'power' track? :)
