Dave,

The Reno ride is just plain fun. My post was sarcastic humor. I think it is great that you supplied porta potties last year. I was happy to contribute both dollars and sewage. My humor is usually sarcastic. I even called myself Tight Wad. I thought that this would send a clear signal that I was being silly.

Keep up the good work. My family looks forward to comming to the Reno Ride. We look forward to everyone.

Your "Ever So Humble" Tortoise

PS: Dave,I appreciate all the effort you put into the Reno Ride. Again Thanks.

Somebody 'splain to me what Reno is like. Is it high desert? What's the humidity there? How about altitude? Will I need shorts in February? Hydration system a must?

What kind of tires work there? Will my YZ250F have enough ass to work there?

Sorry about all the questions. If I'm gonna drive for 40 hours, I want to have my act together. ;)

If I do drive all the way out there, will you guys play with me, or will I feel like Waldo in the Van Halen videos? :silly:

Reno is definitely desert but not ALL wide open. There is some technical stuff too. No humidity to speak of, not sure of altitude. Shorts--probably not. It was a little chilly the first year. Your 250 should be fine, I had fun on my XR 200 the first year I went. Tires--not sure. Ones with knobbies maybe.

See you there, Waldo. Maybe AJ will do his pole dance for us again?

Is it high desert? Yes, 4300 - 6500' riding elevations
What's the humidity there? What's Humidity? Average 18%
How about altitude? Reno = 4400' riding up to 6500'
Will I need shorts in February? Definite NO there
Hydration system a must? I only say yes, because some of these guys are fast, so you will sweat alot riding with them. You could probably get by with a water bottle stuck somwhere.
What kind of tires work there? Anything will do in moist desert terrain. I run Michelin M-12's - always
Will my YZ250F have enough ass to work there? Many of my riding buddies and friend have the same bike they are great out here!

If you have never ridden desert - you owe it to yourself! :thumb:

Strick my sand hill is still in good shape, right? I need my yearly dose of downhill superman/ragdoll crashes. That, and I want to see thumbs climb it on his poor 125 again.

Wow, by the time I'm done with my shift at work 40 new posts. This thread is going to be tough to keep up with. After hearing from the So. Cal crew how great this event was last year I marked it on my calender for '03. It will be great to put some more faces with the names. :thumb:

And the same goes for GSR, FC22, KIWI, GETMETOCA and Scar. I'm sure that I'm forgetting a few, I'll post them later.

I was going to say..... :moon:

Not as steep or as long but it's has whoops all the way up.

Don't sweat the small ones, we have hills no one has climbed yet. The Downhill on the opposite side of this small valley is VERY challenging, but rideable. The hills you see in the photo are just plain fun. On some bikes you just select the right gear and keep it pinned the whole way up!

The Rock(s) you see in the last photo is a portion of the 'Moonrocks'. Trials events are held there frequently. This is an example of why a KTM 520exc is not used in trials events.

The drag race hill pic TTRguy posted is just downright fun. It's not difficult - I rode up it on my wife's XR250R with MT21s in second gear - sitting down. You can go as fast or as slow as you want. My neck & shoulders were for a couple of days from going up & down that hill so many times. I can't wait to get my '90 KX500 out there:) My superman man sand hill is pretty tame - I just screwed up TWICE. It was/is part of the intermediate loop (right, Strick?) and everybody but me rode down it w/o crashing. There were several women on small bikes - no disrespect intended - that made it look easy. I just decided to provide some comic entertainment for everybody that was already at the bottom.....

She was dying but I got her to the top. This year the mighty little cr will have a fresh top end before arriving in Reno. If all works out I might even have a new scooter by then.

This year I think we should race to the top of the hill then back down. Same lines up the hill and once you get to the top go left around the rocks and then back down. First one to cross the road wins. :aj:

Count the old guy from WA state in again! Mr. JOFA mask himself(my dad) and I at the very least will be there. Last Feb I came out with Will and CJ from Colorado. Anyone heard from them lately?? I'll be coming from WA this time. We'll be the slow experts again, but hopefully I'll have my DRZ suspension tuned for the whoops this time. I don't think my body will take another beating like that :ugg:
