Glad you brought this up TTR. I have never had anything stolen at Moonrocks, and have never heard of anyone getting anything lifted either. I have never stayed over night out there, but I think the rig would be fine (safe).

Aimee & Eddie-I am sure we could transport bikes for you. Let me double check with Randy and we can go from there. If you want, we could just meet in Columbia and make the swap, that way you guys don't have to drive 500 miles just to drop off the bikes. Or you can come over and ride Merwin for a weekend and then just leave the bikes. We'll get it figured out one way or another. :)

Cool Lou. It might be getting to cold to ride soon (well, for ME at least) ;) but we were thinking of just coming for a visit though. Know of any good Italian joints? :)
Randy says he has a trailer. He'll be offshore for 2 weeks so we can get together with him when he gets back.

"Jazz. A Louisiana Kitchen." This is the place to go. I'm not kidding, mood-alteringly good food. It's Cajun. Unbelievable beer selection on tap. Reasonably priced, too. For Italian, there's Gorozzo's. Never been there, but their commercials sound good!

As far as too cold to ride, you never know around here. It could be 65 degrees at any time during the winter. Of course, it could just as easily be 5 degrees!

Eddie - I wouldn't worry about leaving the trailer out at Moonrocks for an evening of dining/gambling/dancing/drinking. I haven't decided to take the trailer or not. If I take it I may just stay at the Silver Sage RV park in town. It's totally up in the air at this time. Of course, the other side of the coin is that hotels are cheap enough and towing up Donner pass is enough of a PITA that I may just do the hotel thing. I've still got a couple of months to decide ;)

This is the post that everyone needs to read again, and again. Especially new attendenees on the bubble. If there is moisture on the ground here, and there ALWAYS is in Feb. the riding will beyond your imagination.

December will be good, too, as I'll have the holiday spirit in full force & everything will be roses. After New Years, I'll be feeling a little depressed, and think of some good excuses why I can't come. You guys will badger me, make me feel loved, and I'll be back in. Then Randy will sprout a bad case of gout, my hemmorhoids will flare up something wicked, and I'll crap out two days before we're supposed to leave.

:p Cool! This time, maybe you can talk about bringing canolis again? :p

Just remember, I made it 1700 miles to DW, paisan.

Bike storage is provided by the infamous 'Strick'. We never have any issues with bike storage. I (will) have 5 car garage storage at my place. A good friend offers up his plumbing company garage (about 5 blocks from my house) which could probably hold 100 bikes if they were stategically placed. We were even able to accomdate a few trailers last year in a fenced, locked, barb-wired lot. So 'trust me' - no issues with storage.

I would like to go ahead and reserve one of those spots.

I talked to my wife last night and she wants to go.

Any particular hotel we should try for?

You will definitely have a spot! Gospeedracer is the hotel connection. - She can probably help you there with how to execute a search. Most stayed at the Peppermill last year, and Atlantis the year before. Stay at Hotels, the motels here are Cheesy (with a capital C).

Lets just say that on any given day me and roger (bluethumper) are +/- a Big Mac from 300 lbs...... And by the time we leave the PEPPERMILL buffet we easily crack the 300 lb barrier.
Hopefully conditions will be like last year.
Its been my experience (the last 2 years) and the fact that Reno's and Boise's climates are mirrior images of one another that the weather will be pretty near perfect (for desert riding) that time of year. And besides. Last year was proof that God rides a dirt bike.......
What about bike storage
No worries, Strick will take care of you there. If he says its gonna be safe its gonna be safe. Im ready calender is marked the wife is prepped now I need to go out and start pounding whoops........

Even the local non DRNers that come out to help direct traffic are awsome.

<<Newbie in back raises hand>> Can I go?

Sounds like a cool event, and Reno is not far so I'd love to go. Could someone maybe put together a summary for what is happening, where we go, facilities (camp, hotel etc)? I'll do a search for last year's event too...

LTL-I think last years thread is in the archives forum at the bottom of the main forums page. It's a long one! Better have a couple hours to kill if you want to read it all!

Don't be silly, of course you can go, the more the merrier.

We will more than likely all try to get together for a dinner on one night (I'm thinking Friday or Saturday might be best) and the other nights will be open. We usually try to get out to the riding area (Moonrocks) by 9 or 10am. Ride and bench race all day, or as long you can handle it, then head back to town to get cleaned up and ready for the nights festivites.

The only real thing that you need to plan around is bike storage. If you are keeping your bikes in a trailer or in your truck no worries. If you need to use storage provided by Strick, everyone will need to get their bikes in and out at the same time.

I suggest staying at the Peppermill in the Lodge rooms. It's cheaper than the tower rooms, they have all the amenities of the other rooms, you can park your truck in front of your room and don't have to carry all your stuff through the hotel.

5 post above this one has a link to hotels. The last fourm on the main forums page has last years thread.
