Valentine Reno Ride

:) Cool, thanks everyone. I have an 6x10 enclosed trailer, the bike will sleep in there. This sounds great. A CBR 929 board I belong to put together an event like this in Michigan (at Grattan) in June and it was an excellent time. Of course, I had to rebuild my bike while everyone else rode, but that's a story for bench racing.... ;)

I'll go through it all at home tonight and maybe get my rooms reserved at the Peppermill.

Thumbs- How long does it take to get up there?

It's about 475 to 535 miles depending on which way you go. If I'm driving it takes about 7 hours. I don't drive fast but I also certainly don't get passed often.

If you want to make it there in about 45 minutes then you would need to have Kiwi or Aimee at the wheel.

I'll be there with my family again. Two kids, 7 and 9 years old. So those with kids bring them. Denise my wife also rides. Fun riding for everyone. Strick does a great job.

Only cost is $5 towards the porta pottie. If there is an increase in the cost of the porta Pottie this year lets not let the cost of defication go above 10%. Anything else would be real sh_tty.

So count on 4 more riders and hopefully at least 2 porta potties with a cap on costs.

I am so glad that at the age of 44 I can restrain from posting what I typed originally. Your post really struck a nerve!

Two porta-potties were $75 last year, which meant if everyone put in $1 per person (including your kids, and everyone else's) then the porta-potties were covered. The generous members of DRN chipped in over $75 ($97). The owner of the porta potty business is a friend/client of mine I gave him the $75 and bought him a Sushi lunch.

Porta potties are a must. Keep in mind the name of this event (Ladies Valentine's Day Spodefest). Not having facilities was the biggest complaint from the first year's event.

I will also make you this promise: you will NEVER have to ride on asphalt at this gathering. (Doug knows what I mean by this)

This is brief description of the 3 types of rides (for last year's post) with some modifications:

The terrain is desert, some loam (not a lot), sand, DG, and hard pack. I will almost guarantee it to be moist. You will encounter very few rocks (even on the more advanced stuff). Only a handful of trees scattered here and there. Miles of whoops (which can be avoided if desired), live and dead animal sightings will present themselves, sagebrush, and fun. There is challenging terrain for all levels. There is fire roads for those that just want to cruise and sightsee. There are a few natural terrain MX tracks for those interested.

We are running another race at moonrocks 10-27-02. The advanced riders and gung ho intermediates will run the whole course 38miles. In the course will be several small waterfalls (crooked) 4' to 5' high, two 12' waterfalls no water(maybe). For those who get to the big falls and don't want to ride down someone else will just take their bike down, and they can climb down. There is one uphillwater fall 8'(maybe), this can also be ridden around. Miles of sand washes. One two mile stretch of WFO. One of the longest downhill (steep) single track I have ever been on. No real nasty hillclimbs though.

The beginner course will be a lot of flat open rodes combined with some 'not so sandy' ravine type riding.

The intermediate course is the course the minis ran on. Lots of funs for any level, but will be designed for intermediates who just want to have a fun ride without any real hard sections. It is 8 miles long and offers everything except a true WFO section. Unless you are able to go WFO in small whoops . Two washes a tight single track section with some good turns, faster two track, a very small hillclibmb. GSR is going to love the course, I promise!

I will have a generator and heater hooked up in my enclosed trailer for those who are just chillin'.
