Hi, just stripped top end on sons CR85, 2003, and although piston, ring and bore are within tollerances, the piston crown has huge cracks across the crown and down the side.
I've just bought it, so can't vouch for previous owners treatment of the engine, but I thought vertex were a reasonable make, or would I be better with a different make of piston? I've been away from 2 strokes for many years, and have lost touch with what's good or not. Any advice appreciated.
