Not really, but I know that on
www.901racer.com they were talking about it and someone here (DRN) was planning a ride. They meet at a little truckstop/greasy spoon off of 78 in Potts Camp.
I need an excuse to go to Tupelo, but the next two weekends are bad for me.
It takes a bunch of dirt to build just about anything. I built seven whoops using the technique that is explained on the DirtWerks site. Lay down a pad of dirt as wide as the track and about a foot higher than the track surface. Then you go along and flip the dirt over with the bucket of your loader or BobCat to make each whoop. Works real well.
The angles on doubles are tricky because when you are building them, they don't seem very steep while riding up and down them on a bulldozer. Once you get on your bike you realize you built a wall. So, have a bike handy to check the angles.
I figure a small takeoff for a 20' double can take between six and nine yards of dirt depending on the track width. Build the landings a bit lower, makes the track easier and a touch safer, plus then the landings use less dirt. Probably in the order of five to six yards. It seems like a lot of dirt, but once you pack it down and smooth out the approach and landing area, it goes quick.
Do you get by Holly Springs very often?
