That's right, you know me. I'm the guy too lazy to shovel the driveway and too cheap to buy a snowblower... pffft I got 4-wheel drive what do I need those things for. Anyway we got about 4 inches of snow at my house and it was still snowing this morning. I'm leaving for work around 7:00 and notice two of my neighbors out using their snow blowers. Well I slip the transfer case into 4-low, back out of the garage, stop at the top of my driveway and check for cars. Now my driveway rises about 15 feet over 50 feet. Yeah, it's one steep sucker and darn slick too. Well no cars are coming, that I could see, so I start backing down letting it coast down in the low gearing. About half-way down I spot a Ford Escort coming up the road at a snails pace. Now I know there's no way I'm gonna stop. I try to power shift into second, but momentum is working against me and I continue to slide down hill. I lay into the horn and glanced in the mirror to see the drivers jaw drop and his eyes get as big as cue balls. I shut my eyes and braced myself for the impending impact that never happened. At least the other driver had the common sense to swerve and mash his right foot to the floor. When I finally came to a halt in the street he was less than 10 feet away. My neighbor, who was running his snowblower, held up his hand with his fingers about two inches apart. I sucked my heart back into my chest and headed for work. That was a better wake-up than 10 cups of coffee.

Moral of the story, don't drive down my street after a snow storm! :scream:

Nobody's used the word Dope yet so I guess I will.
Bill you're a Dope. (Please note that's a Dope with a capital "D")
I've seen your driveway, something that steep should be shoveled BEFORE you go down it.

Hey, I shoveled it once... last year. Besides I need to put Kold Kutters in my boots to keep from falling on my arse.

I'm a great driver. It's all those other idiots on the road you gotta watch out for. :)

Say Dan isn't it time to change your Depends?

Woods,

I'm with on the no shovel thing. My dad was an engineer at JEEP back in the late 70s early 80s. His company car was a CJ7 and my mom drove one of the big (tank) Wagoneers. Both were 4w-dr. My dad felt that if he had to shovel or blow our long steep drive way, then we wasn't doing a very good job at work.

So, 4w-low to get out of the driveway during storms was a common occurance at my house too. We had a long steep driveway as well. My dad used to make 4-5 passes up and down the driveway to pack the snow down.

When we moved back to MI in '87, my dad went back to JEEP, and I got my drivers lisence. Now, I was the one who got to go out and do passes up and down the driveway to smash the snow down. What fun! I enjoy the challenge.

You're right about one thing, there's nothing like that helpless feeling that you have when your vehicle is totally out of your own control.

I'm glad you didn't get banged up. Save that for the woods. I've seen you ride.

Whats the problem? Sounded like a very logical story to me. My theory on snow removal is God put it there, God will remove it.
