I have an 02 and have absolutely love it. I ride off-road, so I had my suspension sent out. Much plusher but still rideable in moto with a few clicks! Put a fly wheel weight on it as well, triple clamps to move the bars ahead, Renthal bars and I just can't get enough. I love this bike over anything else I've ridden in the past two years. Go Team Yellow!

OK, Well, I love the bike, Lots of power and handles great. I still need to change the bars, add frame guards... (I'm waiting for the rest of companies to reply for sponsorship before I choose what I'm going to put on).

I've been tossed off twice. (I'm a 40+ B rider - I won the 2002 District championship). Once was as I was going thru a whoop section at Englishtown NJ - I was able to really fly and began to really push and as Eminem would say "snap back to reality". nothing major just got caught in a rut and zigged while the bike zagged.

another time I lost it in a corner, way too aggressive for the slick conditions. The bike really lets you get away with a lot and it feels like it's begging you to push it faster. It handles great and I think that's why I push a little too much.

I definitely need to have the suspension serviced but I haven't accepted any of the offers I rec'd for sponsorship yet. Probably this week I'll choose.

Not sure what if anything I want to do to the motor yet and haven't selected what pipe to put on it yet. I'm also waiting for the "pros" to comeback with recommendations...

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about being a woods bike... I believe it would be a decent woods bike, The powerband hit doesn't rip the bars from your hands unless you want it to... I think you would definitely need to soften the suspension. The handling would be great in the woods. I really don't ride the woods that much anymore and I doubt this bike will ever see the woods with any meaning. I will let you how it is if I do take it for a woods run.

I just got my bike from Canada; this is what's in the spare parts kit:

1 Piston
2 sets of rings
2 sets of top end gaskets
1 set of case gaskets
1 brake lever
1 clutch lever
1 needle bearing
1 wrist pin
1 set of clips

Assembly was easy, just put the fender on, front wheel and handlebars.

There was one item in the nuts and bolts package I had no Idea where it went. It's a pin similar to a float bowl pin or a pin from a needle bearing but its about 2 inches long and maybe 1/8 inch in diameter. I've contacted the dealer I bought the bike from and they have never seen one. I also contacted the Suzuki shops in my area and they had no idea what it was.

Has anyone put together a 2003 RM 250 out of the crate and seen this? The bike runs great. I just putted around the neighborhood to check it out and am very impressed with the low end. Ill get it to the track this weekend and see what it does.

Overall I'm very happy with the service I received from the individual I purchased the bike from.

Oh yea price $4199 plus $200 shipping $4400 for a brand new in the crate RM 250. What a deal.

I have an 03' RM250 on the way too! I'm coming off a DRZ which was stolen so this will be my first two stroke in 20 yrs! My last was an 83' CR250 which was the best bike I had ever ridden at the time. I am anxious to see what 20 yrs of technology have done to the bikes. Any tips on breaking it in? How many hours before I can open it up full throttle? I hope I like mine as much as you seem to be enjoying yours.

By the way I also got the same deal $4199 plus $20o shipping and NO sales tax. you'd have to be crazy to buy anywhere else. My local dealer wanted $5899!!! North American Cycle brokers is where I got mine. I haven't received it yet though. Someone posted that you have to put on the handle bars? Do I have to install the levers and cables as well? What kind of gear oil are you using and what ratio pre mix?

Good luck with the new bikes guys!!!

As far as breaking it in, The manual tells you to ride for X number of minutes below 1/2 throttle, then X number of minutes at less then 3/4 throttle. (I think it was 30 minutes each). I then changed the oil and put Bel-Ray gear saver oil in it. The manual calls for 10W40 but I always use 80-85 weight oil.

The manual also recommends 30:1 pre-mix but I use 32:1 and again use Bel-Ray H1R.

If you replace the bars, as long as you stay with the 7/8 size, the old controls and lines will fit.

I just spoke a suspension company who made me a sponsor offer to ask what if anything do they recommend as far as the suspension... They (Mike LaRocco's sponsor - Factory Connection) suggested I change the springs to a .43 in the front (comes with .42) and a 5.0 on the rear (comes with a 4.8) - I'm 185 in race gear.

I'm still talking to other suspension companies who have made me an offer to see what they would recommend before I make a decision.

The other thing that is driving me nuts is the front brakeline routing, I can't stand it... It probably would be fine but I'm changing it to a Fastline steelbraid cable.

jawsrm134, The pin is for holding the exhaust valve. It hold the arm in place so you do not damage the arm when tightening it. Section 11 page 10 of your manual.

You can call Zach at north american auto brokers , the # is 250 558 7577,
RM250er, if I may ask why do you deviate from the recommended oils and ratios in the manual? I live in really hot weather here in FL. Does that effect what oil I should use? When I uncrate the bike will I have to add fork oil and the whole deal or just gear oil and coolant?

on the belray gearsaver the 80-85 is not a viscosity index. this is not the same as automotive rearend gear oils.

Jawsrm134, where did you get your bike? I'd like to buy mine from somebody who has actually delivered an actual bike. The thought of sending off $5000 to canada and just hoping I get a bike is kinda scary.

Hey guys,

I got mine from north american cycle brokers too (ZACH) see above post for Phone #. I was a little leary at first to send money with no product in hand. I did it I really couldnt pass the price up. I am very HAPPY!!!!!!.

Thanks GBS1 for the information, Nobody knew what the hell that thing was.

CMMCARTHY, The way to do it is a wire transfer. All bank wire transfer can be traced to another account and the individual.

I hope that was some help. Good luck with your bikes guys, I hope to get to ride this weekend.

TreeKiller,
It only took 4 days from the day they shipped it. I ordered it 1 week prior to the shipping day, all in all 7 working days. Normally 5 working days if you order monday youll have it friday. any day during the week other than fri and you should have it mon. Call this guy Jason 413-536-4791. He will most likely answer all of your questions. Thats who I got my bike through, he works with North American Cycle brokers. If you want you can tell him that Mark from VA told you to call him. I had no trouble. I hope this helps you out.

RMer, what type of premix are you using and at what ratio? What about gear oil? I read to use petroleum base for break in and synthetic afterwards, any ideas?
