2) Very aggressive
3) Alot of MX, but also quite a bit of trails so i dont get bored.
4) experience: yes, 3 years (4 months on a real mx bike, but alot of hours, belive me.,alot)
5) Yes, ill race
6) Im going to work on my own bike as much as i can
7) 2 stroke (yamahas)
8) Every brand
9) Looking for a 2000-2005 used for under $3000
10) I need a powerful bike that will last me.

I rode a 125 today, and old one though a 95, cr125, it has a little bit more of a hit on the powerband, but i actually think my 85 may be faster. So i put my bike up for sale, and looking for a 250, or a fast 125.

If mostly track riding, the 125 will be plenty capable. The 125's are hardly at a horsepower disadvantage. The 250 will pull harder in loamy soil where you can really hook up, otherwise they only pull a bike length or 2 even on the really long straightaways. The 250's are better for the trails because you don't have to stay on the pipe so much. Considering your size, I would lean towards a 125.

yeh, today i was riding trails and they were really muddy, all the 85s and 125s woulnt start fishtailing and eventually fall over and slide back down the hill, then the 250s came and with barley any throtal they pull right up the muddy hill  im starting to eat more and workout more, so mabey i can get a little stronger, so by the time my bike sells i could handle a 250. Has anyone ever rode a husqvuarna cr125?

if your going to race then forget the smokers we have until 08' then after you can no longer race with them because of the pollution factor

Please refer us to the statute that will outlaw all 2 strokes for racing in 2008.

No question a 250 is easier in those conditions as a result of a broader power spread. However, I can go anywhere on my 125 that my brother can go on his 250.

If you want easier, then go for a 250 4 stroke or an XR.

BTW, on a tight track like the one closest to my house, an 85 might set the fastest lap time. That doesn't mean an 85 is faster than a 125 in most conditions, though.

The reason the 125ers were fishtailing and crashing while the 250ers just cruised up the hill was most likely because the 250ers were more experienced riders and not because the 125's were underpowered.

what i noticed is that the 85s and 125s would start to bog down a little and then the rider would slip the clutch and lose traction. But im wondering if i do get a 250 is it really easy to become a lazy rider? I know im not the fastest guy on a 85, but i definetly am not anywhere near a lazy rider.

I guess a 250 is more stable while climbing. The faster you get that rear tire going, the straighter you will go. While climbing our local hill, the bike is completely uncontrollable in first, out of control in second, runs straigh as an arrow in 3rd, and gets a little crazy again in 4th. A 125 might not have enough horsepower to get the higher gears going. I do bog a little shifting into 3rd and 4th gears. A little clutch to get that tire spinning again is all it takes.

+1. with a little "clutch slipping", you can do anything( well, almost).
