What brake fluid to use on a 2000 YZ-250?

I had some problems with a dragging front brake which I hope I have rectified with some cleanup/elbow grease.

However, in the process, I pulled the caliper and have no pressure at the handlebar. So I need to add some fluid and bleed the brakes. (I hate that, I get fluid all over my hands and it takes what seems like FOREVER.) The last manual I read (mine says nothing about what to use) said DOT 5.1. What would you folks recommend?

it should say in your manual but you say itr doesnt???

If your dealer doesn't have DOT 5.1 then you can use DOT 4. Don't mix DOT 5 with either of the above. It is a totally different type of fluid.

Also you might do a search on this topic in the KTM forum. It has been hashed over several times.

Motul 600 is compatible with Dot 3, 4 and 5.1. It has a high boiling point and is an excellent fluid, IMO.
