I am looking for a new pair of goggles. I want to spend about $35 and i want a pair that don't fog up. I see that Chaparral racing has alot of pairs for $35 that cost alot more everywhere else.. What pair should i get!?:)
Thanks
I had the WORST time with Scott goggles, that is untill I got their High Voltage goggles! I had a problem with my old model 89's pinching my nose shut, I was going to go with the Smith Warp Stars but I didn't like how the strap connected to the goggle. So I went with the Scott's and WOW they are great, I was amazed at how much air they flow through the goggle. I had a great chance to test them at *DUN DUN DUN* Round 3 of the TRH Family Enduro Series! It was a very slow very dusty race and when I stoped my goggles fogged up. But when I started moving again in 1st or 2nd gear they un-fogged very quickly and were great once again. The foam on the goggles is a 2 part face foam, it wicks away the sweat and keeps it from getting onto the goggle lense.
I run the amber color lense with no problems, I ride mostly in the woods and that lense does wonders. You see things that you might have missed lurking in the shadows. I also odered the "Amp Blue" lense but it wasn't very good, it was not transparent at all.
Installing the lense into the High Voltage goggles is not exactly an easy task. You have to take your time and make sure all the tabs fit into the right slots. But with some practice it gets easyer.
I hope this has helped, I am very impressed with this product.
If you want photos of what they look like on a helmet let me know.
If your a trail rided like I do you should try the quick strap for your googles. It hinges off one side and velcros from the other. I usually pop them off when we stop and put them back on after we start.
I just purchased some Scott No Sweat 3's but haven't had a chance to try them out yet. They received some good reviews and a buddy of mine has a pair. He likes them quite a bit. Another goggle I found after I purchased mine was the ProGrip 3200 LS. It's in the March 2002 MXA(page 154). They received good reviews and they are light sensitive. This means they change from clear to dark when a cloud comes out from behind the sun and vice versa. They show the price at $39.95. Large viewing area, thick foam, and anftifog treated. Just my 2 cents!
I use Scott 89 OTGs with a Quick strap
and My son uses Scott vented 89 OTGs
we got them from Chaparral no problem.
Just make sure to ask it they have them in stock. Some colors were and some were not, I ordered the colors that were.
Man $35 for a pir of goggles, I can get a good sprinnger airsoft gun for that price! But and ways i like the scot pro gogles, with the cool lil' flame on the strap of course!
FYI on the helmet. My son had an HJC CLX3 and it fir great but wanted a new helmet to match the new bike so we ordered the HJC-CLX4 (fuel), and the chin bar is MUCH narrower. We had to return it for a larger size.
I really don't think there's a bad goggle out there, but try 'em on, see if your shnoz gets in the way. Whatever you do, get the ones with the best foam, especially the sweatbusters or no-sweats. That stuff lasts longer.
I'm using Scott but I can't remember which model. If fogging is a problem buy a fog cloth for $1.50 and I guarenty they won't for up.
The only bad thng about the Scott's I have is they don't have a place to put tear-offs. I wish I could just change the lenses and keep the goggles I have.
The worst goggles I've ever owned were some Diablo's. Those things would let rocks come in! They also scatched so bad I couldn't see through after a couple of uses.
Let me add another chip to the oakely basket. I bought the cheap ones (don't know what the model is), and they have never fogged up. I've used them in 90 degree woods riding and flying down snow slopes (on skis), no fogging. Best deal. I also have a pair of Smith goggles, they aren't very comfortable at all.
