Ok I need to know what exactly is an enduro and what is a harescramble any information on other types of races would be cool too.

Just starting out and trying to find something to compete in.

What bikes are best for what? What can you do on a 125?

Thanks a bunch,

Let me shed some light on this subject for you......

Enduro= A race through the woods, (usually 50 to 100 actual miles in length) in which rows of four riders each (not necessarly in the same class) are started at the same key time and must reach unknown checkpoints along the course on time. The course speeds are predetermined and you must follow a roll chart to stay on time. The rules vary depending on which series you run, but that is the just of it. In other words, Speed and Brains win this type of race.
Harescramble= An all out fast as you can go race through the woods. Usually about 30 miles. In this race, the fastest man wins whether he is stupid or not.

125's can compete in either of these types of races. I think the most common bike I see in My area is a 200cc KTM or GAS GAS
Hope that helps a bit. ;)

If you do search I think you'll find more info than you can use. I know there's a couple of in depth posts on this forum.

Ride what you got! 125's are competitive in both, BUT you might need to be street "legal" for enduros, and you moght need a spark arrestor,... Check your local organizing club. As far as I know you have to belong to a club to ride either, and AMA if it is AMA sanctioned.

Try to go to one of each and look around. I've ridden both but now prefer H/S only because of the tracks we ride. Here in the FL sand the enduros trails seem to get really beat up (can you say whoops), I think because the trails are used a lot, not just for the enduro. We get whoops at the H/S's also but they don't seem so bad or as endless. Because of the shorter loops the trails are often new, at least for the Sat. riders.

Body conditioning is also a factor - enduros can be 4 to 6 hours, H/S's are 2 hours or less.
