What is wrong with my bike?

Today at the track my 07 Cr 125 was running fine until I fouled a plug. So I put a new plug in (same kind) and it didn't run right afterwards. It was bogging down and smoking way to much. It was like it was running way to rich. I had made sure the gap on the plug was right before I put it in. I also had fresh mix and a clean air filter on it. So I cannot figure out what is wrong. A guy at the track said it was my jetting but it wasn't like that before. Has this happened to anyone else???

You are SURE the choke was off? You did mix the fuel properly? After warm up you do clear the engine out? Unless it is getting much warmer where you are, it is not the jetting I would think. Vintage Bob

I am positive I had the choke off, mix was right, and I tried clearing out the engine. It is not getting warmer where i live. I was thinking maybe it was a faulty plug. Has anyone ever heard of a faulty plug?

Never. But if the plug fouled from fuel, it is likely garbage. You're engine could be flooded to the point, of actually needing to turn it upside down and carefully getting all the fuel out of the bottom end and exhaust pipe. Or it will keep fouling new plugs.

check the tranny fluid level. I would venture to guess your crank seal needs replaced on the right side.

So that means it is burning tranny oil? What color does tranny oil smoke make? Because it was white like it always is just way more than usual. Could it be the carb needs cleaned. I am trying to figure out all of the possibilities before i have to crack the bottom end open

You dont have to split cases to replace to a crank seal. Dont assume its a bad crank seal before you have looked elsewhere, I made that mistake once. If its a crank seal, you will notice low tranny oil. I ride a 2001 WR and the rubber seals seem to be fine..original everything.

But if it was a broken seal that would be the cause of all the smoke?

It could be one of many issues causing your bike to smoke. Drain the oil, fill with fresh oil (measure the correct amount precisely), ride it, then drain it completely and measure. If it has a leaky crank seal, it should be lower than the amount you filled. You may have to ride it a while to notice the difference. I would check the jetting and reeds first.

Well I cant do that because it bogs down too much to ride it. But i will check the reeds. When you say I should check my jetting...do you mean see what sizethey are or if they are clear?

My "steam engine" is definatly not burning coolant. Just checked its full. If needed I can post a video of the bike running tomorrow.

mine was burning "white smoke" last year and it WAS the crank seal, but it is a cr250 not a steam engine. i wouldnt run it anymore. if it was mine id consider it a good time to inspect the clutch side and replace the seal just for general purposes even if thats not it
