A year ago I got a Renthal 520 O Ring chain. It came with two sets of master links.
I installed the usual 3 parts master link set. I was thinking of changing the master link and opened the package with the second set.
This one, however, is different. Instead of the final spring clip there are two things that look like double wire loops. Sorta like a double yoke.
What the heck is this?

Some clips use two nuts that close the sideplates together, then the nuts removed and the pins broken off. There are two little rings that go into the notches outboard of the sideplate to keep it intact.
Some clips come with a safety wire set-up. You simply set the yokes in the notches and twist the wire tight.
The above two methods are for folks who don't trust a clip type master, and dont have a riviting tool.

Ah, I get it. Yes I can see twisting this yoke thing to take the place of the normal spring clip. Not too sure I like the idea though.
Thanks,.

That is the template that you put between the links....in order NOT compress the O-rings while you put your master link on. It lays right on top of the o-rings and when the plates are compresed (while mounting the link) it compresses on teh meatl loops instead of smashing your rubber O-rings. It ensures that your o-rings don't get squashed. Also...With all of our O-ring chains...we supply a master link AND a rivet link. :thumb:

Possibly the rubber o-rings? You should have 4, 2 go on each side of the connecting link.

Edit: sorry I misread the original post.
