Looking for some suggestions on what type of coolant to run in my bike, and why? I would like something that offers both excellent corrosion protection as well as excellent cooling properties.

From what I understand, pure water with a surfactant will cool better than anything...BUT for system protection, cooling, and ease of use, Engine Ice has it all. It also is far less toxic than ethylene glycol (Prestone,etc..) coolants.

I heard that they will not be selling Engine Ice anymore, the owner had some tipe of problem with the state, so they are not letting him sell his product anymore. Shore was the best engine coolant i ever used. Please let me know if you guys find any good news on this subject :(

I'm a fan of the Moose Juice that's distributed by moose offroad. I've had no problems with overheating thus far, no corrosion failures either :D

Prestone Low Tox, for aluminum engines mixed 50/50 with Deionized water is esentially Engine Ice. Personally Low Tox with distilled water is what I plan to use on my next coolant change. Prior I just use whatever coolant for aluminum engines and distilled water. Years ago on my KTM I also put in a water pump lube additive, but I haven't added to either of the bikes we have now.

Any silicate free 50/50 mix will work fine. Any advantage one coolant brand has over another is splitting hairs IMO.

There is NO problem with Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant...we're NOT out of business...not even close...a little backordered, maybe, but not out of business....not at all.

Without going into great detail....since our product is made in Florida, it must be tested by the state each year. They didn't get it in time due to the Sept 11 stuff....so they held it off the shelves for a few weeks....but only in Florida.

We've been shipping to every other state no problem. Only people in Florida had a problem getting Engine Ice. But it is all resolved now, passed all its tests for cooling, freeze, Ph, corrosion, etc....actually exceeded their requirements. We have to do this testing every year.

Your dealer can get from Parts Unlimited or Motorcycle Stuff.

It isn't the same as Low-tox or other store brands. It's different

Hope I helped.

I've had good luck with RedLine's Water wetter. it definately runs cooler, more consistant and a bit more power as well. the only drawback is that it will freeze around -2^C. i only race when it's warm so that's fine for me. You can get a bottle from any RedLine dealer for 6 or 7 US bones (double that up here in the great white north, eh) - enough to do 2 bikes.

I don't want to be accused of spamming on here.

Plus, as you can well imagine we do have trade secrets that we won't divulge.

Some things we will tell you is the dilution with De-ionized water makes a huge difference in overall performance. No matter what bottled water you buy, it has impurities. These impurities are harmful to your system. You cannot buy De-ionized water, it is not for retail sale. It is a laboratory water. If you can get some, don't mess with it...if you don't know what you're doing, it can make a mess.

We also have greater anti-corrosion and anti-foam properties. Foaming is always a problem because foam/air is a poor conductor of drawing heat away. More anti-corrosion because motorcycles have a tendency to use more exotic metals that your standard automobile.

If you think they're all the same between automotive products and motorcycle products, why don't you just use automotive oil? Because you realize there is a difference...same here. There is a difference.

You cannot buy De-ionized water,
Yes you can. Most labratory supply catalogs list it
.

Last I checked most cars use MG and AL parts just like bikes so that statement is really no longer true.

Thats a whole nother can of worms. BTW I do use auto oil and it works fine and in many cases is superior to the bike specific stuff.
