Wheel bearings...

I seem to be developing a little play in the wheels. Looks like it is time for new bearings? Here's the question - how long can you go with a little play before damage occurs to the hubs? I don't have much, but you can wiggle the wheels slightly if you really try. Should I go ahead and change them now? Who makes the best ones? Thanks in advance!

If there is even a little play its time to change them. Bearings can go from a little play to completely ruining your hub in one ride.
