Hello all, I just recently purchased a 1990 KDX 200, the odometer shows 1397 miles on the bike, used for light trail use only, bike seems very tight and compression is good...just wondering if a top end would be needed or not, I do not have much experience with 2 stroke bikes so was hoping to get some feedback on about what point i would need to worry about top end / bottom end rebuilds. Thanks...Dave

Agree with glad2ride just get a compression tester from your local auto parts store and check your compression and make sure its got compression, pretty much a giveaway if it needs a top end but a tear down would always tell you for sure as to what shape your engine is in....better to know for yourself than trust someone elses judgement and cost your self a lot of money

amount of compression??

I'm curious also about what the correct range is for compression readings on these older bikes....
mine is a 1991 E-3...seems to have plenty but it never hurts to know exactly.
