Where to find deals?

I've been keeping an eye on the cycle trader, bay, newspaper, and even the stealerships and I am not finding much. I'm seeing a lot of bikes that seem overpriced. Anyone kknow where else to look? All the good deals on bay are from the east coast and it would eat up any savings to go get it and I'd rather not buy a bike without riding it.

I always get the autotrader the morning the magazine comes out and get to the good ones ASAP with cash in hand. I just sold my wife's quad in one day with AutoTrader. First person to see it bought it. I priced it to move.

Make sure you get the magazine and not just online. The ad doesn't go online until the day AFTER the magazine comes out. That way they sell more magazines.

I shopped locally using the trader and papers and the like, but w/o any luck. And I watched **** for the last six months before I found some good deals on some good bikes; and they were all local purchases. Patience is a virtue. You'll find something.

I think it depends on where you live. I am from Illinois and good deals can be found anytime in the Great Lakes region, examples of bikes for sale right now in IL, WI, and MN. 2005 CR250 $3999, 2005 KX250 $3,800, 2004 stock KX250 $2,999, 2004 modded KX250 $3,150, 2004 RM250 $2800, 2003 KX250, $2,400 to $2,700. 2003 CR250's for $3,000.

I have been trying to figure out which of these is the best deal. I just want to track ride with my son, I'm 43 now so no racing. I am leaning towards the 2004 KX's because they have a linear powerband that my 02 CR250 had and I loved.

I am currently stuck on CAT duty in Louisiana and have been shopping down here and in Texas. I can't find ONE bike that competes with any of the above on condition or price. Remember our seasons are only about 6 to 8 months up north.

**** man... I got my 99 SX 125 off **** from a mechanic that worked at a KTM shop in Cininnatti.. Totally trick bike with all the bells and whistles, got it for $2,000, which was a steal and a half then. We each drove 4 hours and met half way in Tennesee

Aslong as you can meet up and check out the bike and ride it around a little first, then buying through **** is just like buying from the trader

**** does have some good deals, but you have to be very carefull about buying a dirtbike sight unseen. Especially with today's 4 strokes that can take a second mortgage to repair a grenaded motor.

I bought my '03 yz125 that still had the mold injection nubs on the front tire, along with an almost new $895 (retail) trailer last Oct. from the Atlanta classifieds for $2700.
"Won" an auction for a YZ this summer and the seller (formerly 1266cody, now provx110; selling for his "brother," jacobbrothersen, who had "won" the bike a few weeks previous,) would not contact me to complete the transaction.
Like they say, be patient.
