Which gear oil would be better for my 300EXC, Golden Spectro 80wt or Bell Ray gear saver 80wt? Why is the Bell Ray stuff a red color? Just curious. Thanks Little Jeff
Spectro 80W is good stuff -> castrol MTX 80W synthetic or 10W40 is better (and more expensive). I have heard from alot of gasgas'ers that the bel-ray doesn't work well in the gasgas (clutch action, noise, etc).
Mobil/Exxon recently reformulated their mobil-1 15w50 and labeled them "supersyn" and gave them an "SL" rating. Over on thumpertalk someone contacted mobil and the response was that this forumulation is no longer suitable for use in motorcycles with wet clutches and to use mobil-1 motorcycle specific oil (mx4t). I previously contacted them and asked which mobil-1 oil would be suitable for my gasgas stating that it either took 10W30 or 80W - they said they didn't make anything that should be used in my two stroke tranny.
Okay - go ahead and shoot the messenger (flame away!)... :flame:
