I have a manual for a '92 CR and they too explain how to service the shock.
Must be a Yamaha thing. Since the shock is $600 a pop I can see why they'd want you to think it isn't serviceable :-)
Actually, my manual is called the "Owner's Service Manual" which makes me think that maybe there is a "Shop service manual" with more details...".
