Who sings while riding?

This may sound a little strange, but it keeps me excited about riding, where I would normally slack off and slow down. I realize that I can't sing worth anything, so it must sound horrible. Also, I have to yell to hear myself over the two stroke. Somebody else has to do this. My theory is that XRPredator sings (he is a secretary):). So who else out there sings/yells while riding? My mouth probably looks like this while riding:)

I sing, talk, yell, and grunt while riding!
When I am in the woods, I usually sing some heavy metal tune in the style of Crusty or Time to Ride.
The rest of the time, I am telling myself what I need to do or screaming in fear or pain!

Hmmm...

Most of the time I'm cursing, not like in a bad way, but sort of like when you are on a rollercoaster.
Sometimes I scream or yell, it's a riding ploy for distraction.

I'm usually having a heated conversation with my self like: ...." now what the $#@% do you call that ?!!" "....what the #$%@ are you doing ?!.." :scream: "... Think anyone saw that one ?!!!":ugg:

Just kidding, I sing, talk, yell, keep telling myself to slow my breathing, concentrate..

About the only sound that comes out of my mouth while riding is "OOOOOHHHHHHH SH*****T!" If I don't crash that is followed by "WOOOAAHHHHH!" If I do crash it's followed by "DOD GAMN IT".

No singing but I tend to laugh and woohooo as I make it past some of the obstacles that are out to get me. Guess that's why Karl and his buddies are always laughing at me when I do make it to the top of the hills.:think

Be careful of those subconscience song associations though. I had a bad experience one winter when I was walking down my icey driveway to take a bucket of water to my dogs. Jack & Jill went up the hill was going through my head when I suddenly slipped and fell flat on my butt with water all over me! Stupid dogs!

Get a Honda, get get get a Honda!!! :debil:

Gosh, not me. I'm 150% concentration, with major forward looking tunnel vision. I don't make a peep except for maybe breathing hard, but I don't hear it. I do think to myself, "Darn that root snuck up on me." "Darn that just about knocked my hands off the bars!" etc...

Ok I will admit this, but I am not proud of it; I occasionally sign "get on the hard gas" to the tune of Neil Diamond's "turn on your heart light", ok call me a freak...but I told this to one of the female riders in our group and she told me she now sings to get herself motivated to open the throttle further, so works for us!

Usually when I'm trying to go fast I don't really think about anything except what I'm about to ride over. Other times I may be humming a tune. Mostly songs like on the South Park movie, ie funny and jam-packed with swearing. The music I usually listen to doesn't inspire me while riding.

I don't know why, but Guns N Roses almost always rolls through my head for the fisrt couple of loops, particularly "Welcome to the Jungle". "You know where you are? You're in the jungle, baby-you're gonna diiie..." Wacky stuff, then I usually center punch a tree and GnR is replaced by a "gosh that hurt" thought process.

Then when the hurting is done and pace settles in-I'm thinking it's time for ol blue eyes himself, Frank Sinatra's "I Gotta Be Me".

Almost all of the above except for that MONKEYMOUSE. What a freak! ;) JK man. I sing, yell, hum, cuss, and even concentrate on the trail some times. There are many factors involved such as pre-ride music(some songs are just hard to get out of your head), the terrian (easy or hard), if I have done the trail before, even my mood. What I do also depends on if I find a rythem(in a riding sense if you get what I mean). On my last ride I took off on a small jump wrong and landed in a worse spot. As I cased it and bounced my gut on the cross bar with my feet strait out behind me and then crossed a rut locking the bars to one side I realized that I was along for the ride and could make no more corrections to save my butt. I actually remember thinking to myself before I crashed "Wow, that's gonna hurt"! I think that I might have actually yelled it. It was like it was in slow motion for a second or two. The bike and I are fine. Nothing a hammer won't fix anyway. I bent the shift lever and bruised my heel. Its been a week and half and It just getting to wear I can walk with full weight on my heel with almost no pain. For the most part its just a mix of the above posts.

Guns N Roses comes into my mind every time Im going down a technical hilll so I start singing it, Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet child of mine, knocking on heavens door and all the rest. But going up the hills, its more like, ah #%$@ theres a root the size of a $@%# semi, if I make it over without crashing I'm like Holy , then if I crash I'm like Holy ! Then when you get behind a slow rider it all changes, you start saying to yourself you know, get the h out of my way, or come on grandma, all kinds of weird stuff, kinda stuff you wouldn't say to your mother. Also for some reason when Im riding through a flat boring trail to get to the rest of the trails, I'll started singing, She thinks my Tractors' Sexy, dunno where that comes from. It relaxes your mind and helps you ride better IMO, I also believe listening to your favorite rock or whatever really loud on your expensive system to the trails gets you pumped up and ready to ride!

I never sing, but I will get a song going through my head if im trail riding. I am always too deep in concentration when im on the track though. Gary Semics calls it the total flow experience.

For all these years i thought I was a freak for singing while I was ridin'. I usually crank up a tune while I'm getting dressed and getting ready for a race. The tune stays with me the rest of the day. ;)

Oh YEAH! Besides loving the freedom of riding, the singing goes hand-in-hand with it! That's the main reason, I don't want to have a "chatter box" setup w/my husband.

I usually sing some old Supremes stuff or "Born to be Wild" with a lot of sound effects. I talk to myself alot especially when I almost crash or just crashed.

What a great feeling!!!

I gave up on the communication with the chatter box. now I just plug in my Mp3 playerinto it and someone else sing to me.. I download songs from my fravorit riding videos.. It helps me relax and ride instead of thinking and giving th bars a death grip.:D

i rarely sing or talk to myself while riding...the only time i really say anything is just to remind myself to hit a certain line in a race. maybe i'll give singing, yelling, etc a shot when i get back on a bike
