Why different pipes/silencers for different year RM125's?

Hey guys, Im going to pick up a 2000 RM125 next week and have been looking into pipes and silencers for them. Why arent all the pipes universal from like 93-07? I see break ups for like 96-00 then 01-07. Are the flanges and mountng locations different on different year bikes?

Well there's that and the fact that every few years they would change the cylinders and give them different port jobs changing the shape of the pipe.

don't buy a pipe so soon, wait till you get all the kinks worked out of your bike before you even start with the after market stuff.

They aren't, i have a '98 RM 125 and the pipe is different that my friends '02. So you just need to find the one for your year. (which isn't too hard)
