hey guys,

Got 2 questions about my YZ490j 2 stroke.
1) how do i test my coil and what should the reading look like?
2) i cut and sodded my wires and removed the original hook up. the problem is now i have no spark. could i have removed all the resistance in the like and thus why i don't get any spark?

Purchase a service manual and a ohm meter. Your service manual will give a ohm's reading for each electrical component. If the coil checks within the values listed in the service manual, it's good. You can also take the coil to your local shop and have them check it for you.

i own a clymer Manuel just never found them that good

so i tore everything i did apart and check the source coil "think its dead was a bit xxxxxx"
anyone know where i can order a new one or are the parts interchangeable?
