Wondering what Y'all do with the Oval O-ring on a 92-01 CR250

Hi everyone,
I was just wondering about the Oval Coolant O-ring between the cases on a CR250...

I've been into several CR250's thru the years and I have always addressed this by making sure everything is clean with Brake Clean and then putting a little automotive style "Permatex Ultra Blue" in the groove where the o-ring sits, then I put the o-ring in and add a little more silicone, then put the cases together and have never had a leak BUT when it comes time to take it apart it's a little messy scraping the silicone out of the groove with a little screwdriver or what not and I was just wondering what Y'all do with this o-ring??

My guesses would be:

Nothing but a dry o-ring

Grease on the O-ring

or

The way I do it

So... Y'all tell me

Thanks a bunch in advance

Well, i dont have a 92-01 cr.
But on my 98 yz125 the cylinder head o-ring i just grease it a little(it is what my manual call for). It never leaked on me. I know it is not a crankcase o-ring, so maby it wont work.

I think the grease it to prevent it from drying/cracking.

I don't have that specific bike wither but I generally find that following the Factory Honda Service Manual gives me the best results.
