I'd also recommend you consider the DRZ-250 in this category. It's new out this year. Same price as XR 250(which was my second choice) but is only 12-13 lbs heavier, has e-start, pumper carb, air and oil cooled engine and very decent suspension in stock form!
I put a Yoshi slip-on pipe on it, opened up the airbox and it is a lot of fun to ride. Doesn't scream like my KDX 220, but I'm liking the smooth 4-stroke power more all the time. It will move when you really twist the throttle. Good luck.
