I know honda's website says it has a 39inch seat height, but what is it when you sit on it. I am only 5'9" and my inseam is only 30 or so, so can I get this bike?? I figure when I sit on it, it will lower a couple inches, but how much?

yes you can get the bike.

you have mis-read. the seat hieght of the 2003 XR400 is 36.6 inches. you'll be fine at 5'9".

if doubt lingers, go sit on one. if you don't like the feel or hieght then you don't like it. if you do, you do.

Yea, I must have misread it. My bad. I can't go sit on one at the dealer for a week and a half. They don't have one in stock and no one around here has one. He said he is getting one in to sell to some guy and he would let me sit on it and try it out before he calls the guy up. I still won't ever get a chance to ride one before I buy, so I hope its a good bike.

I am 5'6" and I have no trouble riding the bike. Yes occassionally I am on my tiptoes but I have never felt out of control. Except when I want to be. I just got finished riding some pretty tough wood trails with some big hills and the bike was great.

If you get one you will like it. It is a great bike!

yea, I was just checking because my dmv told me I need to be able to almost touch flat footed on it for it to be street legal, so the day of the inspection I will set the suspension to the softest setting so my weight pushes it down more I guess. LOL

whoever you talked to at the DMV has his/her head up his/her ass. there is no "touching flat footed" requirement for street legality in any state.
