What year is it?

If it's older than a 1992 change the points and condensor.

If that doesn't work or if it is newer than '92 clean the carb.
Probably a pluged pilot

STOP! Before you do ANYTHING else back away from the bike and go get a service manual for your bike. The above post indicated this is THE most important item you will spend money on and will save you a lot of heartache, time, frustration and money. As an added bonus you can let it go with the bike when you sell it to show you were serious about maintenance or at least trying to be which is a selling point. Once you get the book you will have a trouble shooting list to work your way through to get your bike running again.

If your bike is 1993 or newer you have CDI so cleaning the carb is the first point of interest.

Disturbed.

Most likely your pilot jet is clogged. Your new service manual will show you how to access it.

It was just that somehow the sparkplug kept fouling. It was to close together so my grandpa fixed that. and we tuned the carb. and it was going really good. i took it for a test drive and....how ironic...a cop pulls me over..and writes me a ticket.......... and i JUST got it working.... man..that sucks..

Here's another really good suggestion. See about joining a local club, I know Houston has a few off road clubs. There you will meet people that will be happy to help you learn about your bike (they too will push a service manual) by doing the work yourself with some supervision and maybe tool help, as well as LEGAL places to ride where you won't get a ticket.
