Hi Steve,
I'll tell you up front that I am not a mechanical guru. With that said I'll press on. I own a 2000 200 mx/c. I live in the southeastern part of the USA. We have a lot of climate changes where I live. 90 plus degrees F. in the summer and low 30's and upper 20's in the middle of winter. And everything in between. I have had no problems with jetting on my bike. I put a RAD valve on it and it is supposed to make it run leaner from what I understand. I still have not had to make a jetting change.
As for the issue of 200 v. 250 I will tell you this. I am 5'10" and 170#s. I am also a "C" rider. My 200 is the perfect bike for me I think. It will lug well and it will get up and go really well. At 43 yrs. old I don't see myself contending for any titles or being very competitive. But I do love to ride. The 200 provides a lot of fun factor for me. That is why I ride. For the fun of it. On the flip side of that I have a friend who is in his 50's. He has been riding for some time. He also finishes up in the top 3 of most any event he rides. (enduro's and Hare Scrambles) He rides a Gas Gas 300. He wants a 200. He rode mine and loves it. The 200 is light weight and powerful. He was going to look at buying a 2001 this past week end. I hope he got it. Shane Watts prefers the 200. And Brock Sellards rode a 200 in the U.S. Open of super cross and did well. So there must be something to the 200. The best thing between a 200 and 250 is that you can't go wrong either way. I would think a persons weight would have a lot to do with the decision. 180 #s or less I would go for the 200. 185#'s or more I would go for the 250. This is the best I can do. I hope it helps.

I'm 5'11 195lbs with a 30 inch inseam...

have a 00250exc...and can't say enough about the bike...It'll pull and grunt
as much as an xr400 and rip like a two-stroke should...it's light, fast, nimble and dependable.

My only complaint is that it's tall...A little too tall for my taste...but I'm in the
process of cutting my seat down which should increase my comfort zone
during sticky situations.

I have had no proble with jetting...I just jet my bike a tad leaner as compared
to the charts in the back of the manuel...it simple enough
