YOUR OPINOINS ON: yz250f/yz450f

I have decided im going to sell my 03 yz250 for a yz250f or a yz450f. I am leaning toward the 250f but im not sure if it will have enough power to satisfiy me coming off a yz250. I am afraid that with the 450f it might feel like a beast and tire me out.. So I just want to hear some of your guys opinions on the two bikes..you know like, likes/dislikes along those lines.

In addition to height and weight, what is your skill level and what kind of riding are you doing?

I am 245, 6'3" and think my YZ250F has plenty of power for what I want to do with it. But I am a fairly slow and conservative MX rider and probably an average trail rider.

I think the low end power on the 250F is better than the 250 2 stroke and that makes things a little easier coming out of curves, but the 250 2s has much stronger power mid and up. I find that I have to shift and clutch bit more on the 250F, but the power is more predictable.

My biggest complaints about the 250F (in comparison to my Honda 2 strokes) are the engine braking, and the suspension (which I am obviously too heavy for), particularly the forks on the 2005. I like the power a LOT and I think once I get the suspension worked out, I am going to be real happy with it.

I am about 6' 2 and weigh about 165 lbs. I have been riding for about 5 years now. I usually ride in fields and go to a track about an hour away from my house. It has a motocross and supercross track with jumps. hope that answers some of your questions. Thanks

Well there it is then, lol :laugh:

The only place I prefer the 450 over the 250 is deep sand/loam. No doubt the 450 wears me out faster everywhere else.

I think im going with the 250f because my friend just got an 04 crf250 with fmf pipe and that thing rocks.
