yz 400 ?

Just, want some info on a '99 yz 400. I used to have a '97 yz 250 2 yrs ago. how is a 400 compared to that and compared to a 250 in general? I really want a bike to just go to tracks and get better at jumping stuff.
I am 170lbs, 5'8''.

I would pass on the 400 and get a used 250 2-stroke. The engine on the 400 is nice but the handling is behind what you can get on a similar year 2-stroke or newer 4-stroke.
