Hello, I have a 1980 YZ125 and a 1984 YZ125

I have just had the top end redone on the 80 and as I put the bike together, the coil had deteriorated. I bought a used coil that was in working order. I let the coil with the plug hang along the top end and turn the bike over, and there's no spark. Is there something I can check that couldn't be hooked up properly? Could the stator all of a sudden have gone bad?

I bought the 84 without a cyylinder, head, or water pump cover. At the time, I though the bike was an 85. So, I bought a fresh cylinder and head including the powervalve for an 85 bike. I bolted it the the engine and it seems fine. However, the powervalve linkage looks odd when looking to connect it to the powervalve. Are these bike years interchangeable? I also bought the impeller cover for an 85 year. It looks like it fits perfectly, but where its pumped in or sent out, where the hose would slip on looks obselete.
