I have a 01 YZ250 and am thinking of buying a older used YZ mainly to have a extra set of wheels and tires. I like to run fresh tires when I race MX on a groomed track. When I practice on hardpack during the week, the tires wear out excessively fast and need to be replaced for the next race. If I had another set, I would save the race tires for the groomed track.

What fits my 01 YZ250? How about swapping with a 125? A new set of wheels costs about1200.00. Im thinking I might as well buy a nice used bike that I can sell when I switch brands.

If your going to spend the money why not just go with the new excel hubs? they way instead of having to try and sell'em you can keep'em for the next bike. Since in '00 the rear axle size went from 20mm to 22mm so I don't know if 99 and older rear hubs would work. I would say a 96+ should work for the front.
