I'll say this, the YZ-F is happier in the woods than the WR is on a track. The WR is too de-tuned, and the tranny ratios are just a little too wide to be very much fun doing MX. But the YZ does a good job of tackling trails with just a sprocket swap and a few clicker changes. Of course, you won't have that magic button...

what about gas gas?

i have been wanting a dirt bike for a long long time, but haven't had the cash for it. i have heard that gas gas' are cheaper than all the other big brands and are still pretty good bikes. just tell me what you think about them.

They are great bikes, but they aren't cheaper than the bikes from Japan.

GasGas makes GREAT bikes, not just pretty good ones. Buying used, they're cheaper than the big 5, but brand new they're about the same. Don't be afraid of the spanish bikes. Parts are easy to get and in most cases the same or cheaper than the other brands (definitely cheaper than KTM). Dealer support is very good and the bikes are very reliable. If you want more info, just ask.

Bought my 01 privately, and I got my 07 slightly used from GasGas Pacific (western Canadian importer and my sponsor). There aren't tons of dealers, but the ones out there are way better than most popular brand dealers. Okanagan Motorsports and River City Cycle are in the Okanagan, plus there's some down at the coast, 1 out in Okotoks, etc. GoFasters (in Minnesota) is awesome - they always have the parts I need in stock. Plus there's lots of crossover parts (Honda brake pads, etc) so regular wear items are never an issue. My bike has never been down more than 3 days waiting for parts, and even that is a rarity because the bikes are extremely durable. GasGas makes great bikes. Don't be afraid to give them a try.
