On the Hondas, it's held on with a nut. Remove the nut, remove the impeller, and replace. If there was an impact involved in the damaging of the impeller, it may not be a bad idea to replace the seals, shaft, and bearings as well. That all requires removing the right side cover for the engine.
I have never had to remove the impeller on a YZ before but I can say that the impeller is removable. To keep it from spinning I suggest taking a pair of Vicegrips and clamping down on it, seeing as it is already damaged and useless.
Ok if anyone has to remove just the impeller and no damage to the shaft.
Its as easy as a left handed thread.
Put bike in gear.
Press on the rear brake.
Undo and relace :)
I have been told things like taake of engine casing etc all bull!
If all thats bust is the impeller then there you have it.
