Hi all.
I have a 2002 yz250f. I noticed a slight leak around the water pump casing so took the case off to investigate.
I checked the impeller over to make sure it was sound and noticed that i was able to turn it about 90degrees before any resistance was felt. When kicked over or running the impeller does not move.
Should he impeller be direct drive or is there some type of clutch/temperature control on the pump?

Thanks in anticipation.

Yes, the impeller is a direct drive. You may want to remove your side cover and inspect the impeller and it's bearings.

It's toast, do what Ol'89r said and let us know.

The parts aren't very high as parts go so all will be good soon. Be sure and put a new seal in while you have it apart and put a dab of grease on it too.

Checked it out today and found the drive gear for the pump in numerous parts floating around in the clutch casing.
Managed to get them all out (i hope) and will order one tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice
