A quick question to see if I understand this correctly, once this mod is done, the transmission will be switchable between 1-N-2 gears and not be stuck in first only correct?

Actually, it will allow first gear to be engaged.

I am by no means familliar with the JR50, other than my sons was not running right. I tore it dow, and did the mod in about an hour. That was 2 weeks ago, and my clutches came in today. Hopefuly I can remember how to put it together.

1st gear?

Hi all.I have done this modification to my sons 1981 jr50,but I can not get 1st gear?.
The shifter won't go up.can some please send pictures
The good news I noticed that the clutch cover also has a crack !!.Its cracked by the kick lever stop bolt.the bad news is that the new will cost me $90 big ones.
But I did get my Suzuki mt50 trail hopper running again!.

Hi, i'm considering doing this mod to my brothers 04' jr50, ive heard 2 different ways to preforme this mod and im confused. Could someone please send me some pictures and tips. Thanks heaps. I've done some performance mods for it to carry my weight but still need a lower gear. Thanks again

only way to do it is follow pic above. just elongate the hole to the right the same amount as its elongated to the left.
