Help, the rear shock seal on my 01 cr250 has blown three times in nine months of moderate use. A local suspension tech tells me that it's a common problem on 01 cr's. I rode my 00 cr250 hard for 18 months and never had shock seal problem.
I anyone else having the same problem??
I have a friend with a CR125 `01 that has leaked twice. The first time the bike only had three rides on it. Honda covered the first one but not the second.
Honda shock shafts are prone to getting knicks on them from stones,I see it all the time even on street bikes so it could be just your bad luck. On the other hand try letting a different suspension shop do your shock as it could be down to poor workmanship.

the real fix is to use a mx-tech billet seal head the bushing and seal are reversed to keep the bushing in oil for increased life , also the oil seal is a quadlip seal that produces much better sealing properties than the singlelip
seal in the stock seal head .
