A friend recently purchased an 02 CR250 with a SST pipe. When I rode it, there was very audible detonation at the top end of the rpm range. I have heard SST pipes can cause this. We would like to be able to run the bike on 91 octane and not have to deal with mixing gas. Would fattening up the main jet help with the detonation at all? Double stack head gaskets? Or, should I just tell him to buy a different pipe?

The silencer is a FMF Turbine Core 2, it is in good repair. The owner of the bike told my friend may have had only 6 hours on it. After riding it, I believe it.

As for what has been happening, I got an internship building pumps and had to move. I haven't had internet for a while. I'm not quite so bored anymore and don't need to kill as much time here, either. I also almost have enough money to start riding again.
