I've been looking...

Man, I've got a 1999 S-10 ZR2. I'm impresses what I have been able to carry with it. 2 bikes are no problem. I've even gone off road with it to get broken bikes! I would never have gotten away with that in a full size. Is yours 4x4 or 4x2. I'm looking and waiting. Is it true they'll be like the Trailblazer next year?

s-10

I speacial ordered a 2 wheel drive, short bed ,reg cab s-10 and wanted a 4.3 vortec, 3:42 limited slip rear end, with the ls package.
I had a hard time getting it and there were only three in the country.
The dealer told me most people want the ext cab with that ls package and
GM wasnt making anymore the way I wanted it.
I got one of the three and I love it.
The truck only weighs 2800# and I have towed 4500# with it without any problems.
It is rated for 6000#. I would never actually pull that much but I
pull a 6x10 enclosed with a 50 gal water tank, power washer , mini mig welder,
tools, generator, two bikes and the coolers full of cold ones for when the day is done.
This little truck does all that and still gives me 14-17 mpg while hauling ***.
I have had many new small and full size trucks over the years but this 01
s-10 ls has been the most versatile and economical for my needs.
My racing partners get mad because they have a hard time keeping up with there full size trucks while booking down the highway.
The engine that came with this was the 200hp instead of the 190 .
I dont know why but that is what I got.
I have had 1300# in the bed and it did fine.
This summer I am putting on a vortec super charger, weld wheels
and also putting them on the matching trailer.

Tiger, It is a 4 by 4.
ok here it goes 4,261 miles on it as it stands. Great gas milage. The crew cab can haul two full sized bikes yes you heard that right!!! I got a CR125 and KX250 in the back of it along with gear, gas, ramp and tool kit. The truck has pleanty of power. We go 90 easy in it, we think were doing 60 because of the ride it gives us. The rear tires don't bite well especially in rain. A little throttle will get the rear sideways on you in quick order. Very torquey and responsive motor. Makes pleanty of power. It shifts really low in the RPM range compared you our old Sebring conv (no we didn't haul bikes with it) we would bounce off the rev limiter before it would shift. Well at 4,261 miles the truck runs great and has served it's purpose entirely. It has really impressed us. Our Tahoe with oversized rims and tires by 2inchs (I belive) can't make it into a certain riding spot without using 4 wheel drive. The S-10 made it so easily in 2 wheel it made the Tahoe look horrible! Ground clearance on the S-10 is very good for the size of the pickup. The only thing I don't like about it much is it's not wide and theres not much in the front to protect you in a accident. Truck has been great! BTW it's a 2002 Chevrolet Crewcab 4 by 4 S-10 :D
We payed 27,000 for ours. It's worth the money, if you don't own one already you better get to the dealer and get your name on these trucks!

S-10 is being replaced soon!

It is being replaced be the Colorado (sp? like the state) There will be no new mini-truck for Chevy in 2003 I think. Noley mid-sized and full sifed trucks. They should just keep the S-1o along wit the others.:silly:

Hey Adrenaline, I just got the same truck a couple weeks ago. Just got back from driving it to Fl. already have about 2700 miles on it. Had me, the wife and 3 kids + the back loaded, pretty comfortable truck. You're right about it getting sideways in the rain, it's got good power. We got caught in the snowstorm in NC on the way back and had no problems while people were going off the road left and right. The motor runs good but sounds like crap! Same chevy sound as always, sounds like a 10 yr old truck. I'm not too impressed with the handling in corners seems to dive into them and roll big time , but I didn't buy it for that anyway. I looked at all the other small crew cabs and came back to this one , I think it's much nicer and more room for the money. I also like the towing capacity, I need to put a hitch on it. I didn't think my bike would fit in the back, it's only 55" I think,I'll have to try it if you got one on there! I was planning on towing a trailer when I need to use it for the bikes. I traded my wifes Civic in on it, so I won't get to drive it too often until I get her another car , maybe next year and I'll make this a co. truck:D

I have an '01 3-door with the 3.42 axle and the ZQ8 (lowered) suspension. The ZQ8 package comes with the zoomy new 16" wheels, too. This is my 4th S-10 with the 4.3 liter. I love 'em. My new one is a sleeper. Plain white, no moldings, etc. The only complaint I have is the speed limiter. I hit 97 mph and the thing fell on its face. I thought I broke somethin'.

Oh yeah, the brakes STILL suck. :think

Got disc brakes all around on my crew cab, they seem pretty good so far? Haven't tried above 90 yet, might have to see what happens in mine.
That Isuzu thing is almost as ugly as the Avalanche, glad I got mine now, I tried to get the GMC but they didn't have the color I wanted they looked a little better with a different hood and grill.
The Nissan frontier has a supercharged crew cab, I didn't test drive it though:ugg: Don't think my wife would have liked that too much, besides no 4WD in that one.

You be correct! I just checked my brochure, guess I didn't notice that cause I knew I wasn't getting one:(
Another interesting thing is every truck brochure I looked at had a picture somewhere in it with a bike in the back!

Yeah, I noticed that alot of truck brochures have bikes in them. Pretty cool.

I still think that Nissan is too expensive. For the price of the supercharged one with the longer bed, you're pretty much in full size pickup range. Though I guess some people would probably prefer the smaller trucks to the full size ones.

I know Nissan is toying around with coming out with a full size truck. I actually read something that said even Honda was thinking about making pickups! I'm not sure if a Honda pickup would be taken too seriously in the truck world.

From what I have read, the Honda truck may have GM V8's. Add this powerful engine to Honda's fit, finish, and reliability, and they may have a great truck. It would probably cost more than a Chevrolet though. Also, it would need to be bigger than a Tundra.
