05 CR125 detonating probs???

Has anyone experienced/heard of the new CR125`s having problems with detonation? A few guys are saying it over here in the club that I race in and having just bought one I am a little concerned! If this is in fact true is there any easy cure?? :bang:

Yes...Use a mix of 25/75 or 50/50 pump to VP c12 race fuel mix..Or just staight race gas...Then fine tune your jetting.


I think Honda increased the compression a bit on the 05' CR...

get a higher Octane fuel dude. the higher the octane the higher compression the bike can take before detonation. thats all octane is

i run 1/2 93 octane and 1/2 110 sunoco race fuel. this has seemed to help mine.

Slighty richer jetting (and even slightly retarding the ignition timing) can often cure pinging trouble as well, though I dont have any first hand experence with the 05 cr's its probably worth a try.

If you use straight leaded fuel like C-12 your bike will be VERY rich. Dont be suprized if you have to drop 3 jet sizes. If you make the commitment to run leaded race fuel have the head volume decreased to match.. You cannot EVER put unleaded in it again.
