05 RM250 to Eric

Well I just sent my 05 RM to Eric at Forward Motion for a 265 kit with porting and head mods. Anybody done this before? Was it as cool as I am hoping it will be? I just came off of an 04 CRF and I am looking for similar power. Just lighter weight and better handling. What do you guys think?

I think its a step in the right direction:) no 2 stroke 250ish engine will be like a 450 but it will be more fun.

You know in the meat of the power the RM feel just as fast as my CRF did. A friend of mine still has his CRF and he has yet to out power me anywhere including a 4th gear straight at the local track. It just does not hat the spread of power and torgue that make those 450s so easy to ride and make them hook up so good. Even if I can get close that would cool. I LOVE the handling and light feeling of a 250. The 450 was easy to go pretty fast on but felt difficult to go REALLY fast on. If that makes any sense. The RM begs me to push harder.

I know what you are saying totally, a 250 will be as fast as a 450 when ridden right but its never as easy-you have to work a 250 where you dont a 450-your EG rm will be plenty fast of that im sure:)

I will post a ride report when I get it back. It may be a bit though. Turnaround is 2 and 1/2 weeks and then who know when the weather will cooperate. Any one else on here do the 265 kit?

I am also having Eric do the 265 kit with mo' power everywhere porting but on a 1999 CR250, I should be getting it back hopefully sometime late next week or early following week. In addition to this I am completely rebuilding the bottom. It probably won't be until early March when I have it completely back together. I look forward to hearing your ride report.

I totally agree with you on this.

I agree with both of you that's why I switched back.

I have heard from a friend that had Eric do the port and 262 on an 02 CR250. He had him do the bore first and then the porting. He said the porting did alot more than the bore did.
