Ok first of yes it's Canadian ( front disc brake etc) last model imported ( 84 was last year in US )

Last owner spent some cash on the top end and clutches. But.... it needs more work

1.) Not sure he did crank seals... are they still avail ( part # and an idea of where ) seems these are RARE and hard to get parts for. Mind you it's 20 + years old too.

2.) Needs a rear shock and i'm looking for ideas ( aftermarket/stock replacement/rebuild kits etc)

3.) Needs a new set of tires. Has a 5.30-18 on it ( rear ) not sure of the front. Specs call for 140/80-18 and 100/80-21 I think...

Anyone have any information they can share on these beasts would be great.

Thanks

You could see if RM250's of the same year or earlier had some common parts. What is the power like on it?I heard they were fairly mellow for a 500.

Not bad. It's a little more on edge than the 99 KX500 I used to ride. It was old, cool lookin and cheap...all of which are bad news..LOL

Basically I need to find out if the thing is sucking trans oil....took the reed valve out..looks like reeds are in order so the small things to make it right list is growing.

With a toasted rear shock and a bald rear tire... it's hard to tell..all I know is any more than 1/3 throttle blows the tire off in all gears...;)
