1991 yamaha RT 180 good begginer?

hey guys new to the forum, and new to the dirtbike world!!!, i got a friend selling a 1991 RT 180 for $800.00 its in pretty good shape. now i have ridden a few bikes around but not alot, i really like this bike and im thinkin it will suit me good im 6" and 150 pounds i touch the ground no problem on the bike so guys/girls what do you think should i get it?... now i havent ridden a bike in several years is the first gear on a bike usally down or up, or does anybody kno specificly on the RT 180 thanx..... plz reply i need 2 kno!!

I use to own one back in the day. They are a good bikes for fields, not hillclimbing though. I guess they are good to learn on, but I got bored with it after a month of riding. It all depends on what kind of riding you will be doing.
