1997 or 1999 kdx

Does the 1997 kdx 220 come out with a purple petrol tank reason I am asking went I brought my 220 I was told it was a 97 but I have done some looking on the net and I believe it is possible a 99 going by the graphics.I cant seem to find a manufactures year on it any where just a vin number.If anyone could give more information that would good thanks

Do a google search for "Kawasaki VIN decoder", and try the links that come up as a result. I forgot which I used, but I used a couple to figure this out for a KX-60 I bought for my kid. Seller said it was a 2001... he missed it by about 11 years... :coocoo:

I have a '97 KDX 220 and it has the purple seat and tank. I believe that the 'tenth' digit of the serial number will indicate what year it is.


S= 95
T= 96
V= 97
W= 98
X= 99
0= 2000
1= 01
2= 02
etc until
A= 2010
B= 2011
C= 2012
and so on
